Valzaar-H (Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide) containing the active ingredient valsartan is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist type of medication. It works by blocking the effects of certain chemicals in the blood stream to relax and widen the blood vessels and allow blood to flow more freely and the heart to pump more efficiently. The medication can be used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults and children at least 6 years old or older. Patients can also use it to improve survival rate after a heart attack or a condition where the heart is unable to pump enough blood to the rest of the body called congestive heart failure.
