SORAFENAT 200MG contains Sorafenib which belongs to the group of medicines called antineoplastic agents. It is used to treat liver and thyroid cancer. It can also be used to treat advanced cancer of kidney, when standard therapy cannot cure the disease. Sorafenib works by slowing down the rate of growth of tumor cells and arrests blood supply to them.

This medicine can be taken either without food or with a low-to-moderate fat meal. Do not take this medicine with high fat meals, because this may make SORAFENAT 200MG less effective. It is important to take this medicine at same time each day, so that there is a steady concentration in your bloodstream. During the treatment, your doctor would monitor your blood pressure and blood sugar levels regularly to avoid any unwanted side effects.

The most common side effects of taking this medicine are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hair loss, headache, muscle pain and mouth sores. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver impairment. While taking this medicine, avoid becoming pregnant. If you could become pregnant use an adequate contraceptive method. Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine, because it may interfere with the growth and development of your baby. This medicine is generally not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor before taking.
